Statesboro is Georgia’s headquarters for the hottest trend in tourism: geocaching! Surrounded by a wealth of natural, agricultural beauty, intriguing history and architecture, Statesboro offers plenty of surprising places to play the newest game in outdoor fun.
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is today’s favorite scavenger hunt! This outdoor adventure takes you out of your neighborhood to explore the rest of your community, your county, or even your state! Small objects, often including a log book and pen or pencil, are hidden in containers or “caches” around towns, cities and outdoor areas which geocachers use handheld GPS units to locate. The challenge often lies in driving, walking, hiking, or climbing to actually reach the cache. It’s a great way to see the sites in Statesboro and visit the surrounding area!
How Do I Get Started?
Purchase your handheld GPS unit at any store that sells electronics. Many cost less than $100. Then review this list of cache sites to get started on your Statesboro geocaching journey!
