Statesboro, GA: The Georgia Tandem Rally (GTR), the largest gathering of bicycles built for two in the southeast, returns to Statesboro for the first time since 2004. The 18th edition of GTR features 115 bikes from 16 states, who will travel to Statesboro for three days of riding and socializing. Riders will visit The Clubhouse, Georgia Southern’s Center for Wildlife Education and the Eagle Creek Brewery during their busy weekend. Participants will ride options of 30-69 miles each day while in Statesboro.
“The rally had become too big to visit Statesboro,” Ride Director Eve Kofsky said. “However, with the addition of the SpringHill Suites and the Southern Hospitality Conference Center, there is now plenty of space for our riders and our social activities.”
“The roads of Bulloch county are flat, fast, and lightly-travelled, making for perfect tandem-friendly cycling,” route planner Roger Strauss said. “We thank the drivers of Bulloch County for sharing their roads with us and hopefully smiling and waving at the bicycles with all five fingers.”
The 225+ cyclists are expected to spend over $60,000 while in Statesboro. Cyclo-tourism is excellent for the economy of any city that is lucky enough to host an event such as GTR 2016. More information on the rally is available at www.georgiatandemrally.com
